Management Team: Biography
Shahram Shafie
Shahram Shafie is Chief Technology Officer for Green Source Holdings LLC. Mr. Shafie’s duties include managing the
company’s laboratory, coordinating all research and development efforts, and supporting business development.
A native of Iran, Mr. Shafie has extensive industrial experience in the fields of chemical and petro-chemical
processing and design. His fields of expertise include energy resources conversion, process systems engineering,
chemical reaction engineering and metabolic engineering and biotechnology.
Prior to helping to found Green Source Holdings, Mr. Shafie was co-founder and Vice President of Engineering for
Liquefied Fossil Fuels Corporation, an energy technology development company in Manhattan, Kansas. Mr. Shafie
was also a consultant to the U.S. Government, specializing in the development of agricultural value added
businesses and food industry projects in Central Asian countries. In the past, he served as a chemical engineer
or process designer for various major international oil and gas companies. Companies for which Mr. Shafie
worked include Schlumberger and Dowell-Schlumberger as a field engineer in Houston, Texas and Prudhoe Bay,
Alaska. In the Alaskan North Slope, he was assigned by Schlumberger to work with ExxonMobil and British Petroleum
operation teams on horizontal drilling and the optimization of well production.
Mr. Shafie has also worked as a process engineer and a revamping team member for Royal Dutch Shell in the Persian
Gulf region and as a design engineer for B.F. Goodrich Tires. Mr. Shafie previously worked as a Research Engineer
in the Institute for Systems Design and Optimization at Kansas State University where he performed research on
process flowsheet optimization models and computational methods to identify complex reaction pathways.
Mr. Shafie received his BS in Chemical Engineering with additional graduate studies in Electrical Engineering
and Computer Science at Kansas State University. He has more than 30 national and international technical
refereed journal articles and presentations and is credited with several U.S. and International patents. Mr.
Shafie lives with his wife in Austin, Texas.
